AUGUST CAMP
17.-30.8. 2003

WillaNuttu held international workcamp in the last half of august. It was called AugustCamp. The camp gathered young people from 7 European countries including Finland. Youngsters were 18-30 years old. Enrolled Slovakian youngsters had to skip the camp because of traveling-problems.
The camp was marketed by Youth organization Allianssi. Out of the ten camps in Finland, it got full as the first.
The youngsters worked with a "foodwage".
The youngsters were very conscientious in their work. Harri Heinonen, The leader of the camp, even had to urge the workers from their task to the evening gathering.
In WillaNuttu the youngsters independently made acquaintance with others cuisines. Especially italian Luca did show some mastery cooking.
The youngsters main tasks were pruning and cleaning of the track, landscaping of the adventure and observation tower and parging and painting of the almost hundred years old mainbuilding.
In the weekend we got to know Savonlinna and its sights. We also made an adventure-trip with canoes to Hietasaari, which is part of Linnasaari's national park. There we stayed the night in the open.
A particular thanks has to be given to camps young finnish leaders Maija and Marika, who made superb ambience with their personality and their examples in the work and also in the free time.
Although many good situations have left out, the following image-story tells more than thousand words. Thank you very much, leaders and participants of the camp.

Yours truly, WillaNuttu's land steward.
